Black and White w/ Color

This is a Flower, taken Sept 29th and 6:38 p.m.
Location: Chase's Field
Mode: Auto, Macro, No Flash

BW: To change the photo to black and white,
I first copied the background layer, making a new layer (Layer 1),
I then selected Layer 1, went to Hue/Saturation and made the saturation -100,
Lastly I poked the eye out of the background,
right click and merged the visible layers (Layer1 and Hue/Saturation).

To add some color to the picture, I used the Quick Select tool on Layer 1,
to Select everthing on the flower that I wanted to add color to,
Once I had that selected, I took the Eraser tool,
and erased everything inside the marching ants of the Quick Select tool,
This exposed the background layer which still had it's color.

Once I had the color showing,
I decied that I wanted to change the color of the flower from purple to pink,
So I took the Quick Select tool and selected all the purple,
Then going to Color Replacement, I used the Eyedropper to get all the color I wanted,
Then went to the Sliders and played with Hue, Saturation, and Lightness, till I got the pink I wanted.
Then to better the picture even more I went to curves and changed Output 255, and Input 224.

At first I thought it was easy to focus on the flower,
but after the changes I made, the flower stands out even more!
I like my edited photo because the colors stand out very nicely against the BW background,
and with the changes I made with Curves, the colors are more vibrant.
I also think that changing the purple to pink helps,
because pink stands out more to the green than purple does.

Photo Clean-up

This is Babe, taken Sept 14th at 7:oo p.m.
Location is Chase's field.
Modes: Program AE, ISO 100, F-Stop F3.5, No Flash, Auto Whitebalance, Exposer -1

This is Photo clean-up.
I used the clone stamp to get rid of the prickle bushes that were kind of distracting.
I think used curves at, Output 225 and Input 227.
I then used Vibrance at +78 and Saturation at -18.
Lastly I did Color balance,
Midtones +24, +6, -2
Shadows +2, +8, -6
Highlights -12, +16, -6.

I like this photo because you can focus more on Babe's face rather than having all those other plants around. I also like that the grass is more green, and Babe himself is a darker richer brown.

Color Replacement

This is Biancha and I at a wedding on August 28, 2010 around 5:00 p.m.
I uses the Auto setting.

This in the edited photo.

I had lots of fun with this one! =]
I whitened our teeth
change my eye color to green
changed Biancha's ear ring to purple
changed Biancha's sunglasses to a purple mix color
changed my shirt from beige to purple
and put purple streaks in my hair.

I like both pictures, but the edited photo is just more fun and colorful than the first unedited photo.
